Water filtration for Los Angeles homes and businesses, installed and serviced by a local team. Los Angeles water is safe to drink, but that does not mean you like how it tastes, smells or treats your skin. We test the water at your own tap, show you the results and install the filtration system that fits your home — whole-house, under-sink, or both. We have been doing it for over 20 years from our shop in Burbank.
Why Los Angeles homes filter their water
Los Angeles gets its water from several sources — the Los Angeles Aqueduct, imported water from the Metropolitan Water District, and local groundwater — and the blend changes by neighborhood and by season. That is why two homes a few miles apart can have noticeably different water. These are the complaints we hear most:
| What you notice | Usual cause | What fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| Pool-like taste or smell | Chloramine, the disinfectant used in Los Angeles | Catalytic carbon filtration |
| Flat or “off” drinking water | Dissolved minerals and disinfectant | Reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink |
| White spots and crusty faucets | Hardness minerals | A water softener, often paired with a filter |
| Grit or cloudy water | Sediment, often from older pipes | Sediment pre-filtration |
| Dry skin and dull hair after a shower | Disinfectant plus hard water | Whole-house filter and softener |
Your water utility publishes its own test results every year. We test at your tap because the water in your home is what matters.
Water filtration systems we install in Los Angeles
There is no single right system. It depends on what is in your water, how your home is plumbed and what you want to fix. We will tell you honestly which one you need — including when it is the less expensive one.
Whole-house water filtration
One system on the main line, so every tap, shower and appliance gets filtered water. Catalytic carbon takes out the chloramine taste and smell, and a sediment stage catches grit before it reaches your fixtures.
Under-sink reverse osmosis
The best-tasting drinking and cooking water, straight from its own faucet. A reverse osmosis system ends the bottled water runs and fits in the cabinet under your kitchen sink.
Softener and filter combined
A filter does not soften water, and a softener does not remove disinfectant. Most Los Angeles homes need both, so we build a combined softener and filter package.
Alkaline drinking water
If you prefer mineral-rich alkaline water, our alkaline water systems add it to a filtered drinking water setup.
Commercial water filtration
Restaurants, cafes, offices, gyms, salons and medical and dental practices rely on clean water for coffee, ice, steamers and equipment. We install and service commercial reverse osmosis and filtration, and rent bottleless water coolers for offices.
Areas we serve
We install water filtration across Los Angeles County, including Los Angeles, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, Encino, Studio City, North Hollywood, Calabasas, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood.

Frequently asked questions
What is in Los Angeles tap water?
Los Angeles tap water is treated and tested to meet federal and state drinking water standards. What most people notice at home is the disinfectant taste and smell, hardness minerals that leave scale and spots, and sometimes sediment from older pipes. LADWP publishes its test results every year in its Drinking Water Quality Report, and we test the water at your own tap so the recommendation fits your address.
Does a water filter remove chloramine?
Yes, with the right carbon. Los Angeles disinfects with chloramine, which is harder to remove than plain chlorine. A whole-house filter with catalytic carbon is built for it, and a reverse osmosis system with carbon stages removes it from drinking water. A basic pitcher or fridge filter does much less.
Do I need a whole-house filter or just an under-sink system?
It depends on what bothers you. If it is only the taste of drinking and cooking water, an under-sink reverse osmosis system is enough. If you also notice the smell in the shower, dry skin, or want filtered water at every tap, a whole-house filter is the right tool. Many homes choose both.
Does a water filter soften water?
No. A filter removes disinfectant, taste, odor and sediment. A softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale. Most of Los Angeles has hard water, so many homes combine the two in one softener and filter package.
How much does a water filtration system cost in Los Angeles?
It depends on the type of system, the size of the home and where the main line is. We test your water first, recommend the system that fits, and give you a firm price that includes professional installation and warranty before any work begins.
How often do the filters need to be changed?
Under-sink reverse osmosis filters are usually changed about once a year, and the membrane less often. Whole-house carbon media lasts several years depending on water use. We offer filter service so you do not have to track it yourself.
How long does installation take?
Most under-sink systems are installed in a couple of hours. A whole-house system is usually a single visit. We check the install location during the free water test so there are no surprises.
Do you install water filtration for businesses?
Yes. We install and service commercial filtration and reverse osmosis for restaurants, cafes, offices, gyms, salons and medical and dental practices across Los Angeles County, and we rent bottleless water coolers.
